Rip Curl WSL Final

For the first time in WSL Championship Tour history, the 2021 World Champion will be determined in a one- day winner-take-all event entitled “Rip Curl WSL Finals.”

After a season of chasing rating points and glory around the world, it all boils down to a single day of competition at Lower Trestles. The stakes and pressure couldn't be higher.

Here we will introduce how the "Rip Curl WSL Final" will be held.

The Essentials
Competitors : The Rip Curl WSL Finals will feature the WSL Final 5 , consisting of the top five men and women on the WSL Championship Tour leaderboard after the conclusion of the 2021 regular season.

The WSL Final 5 will be determined based on points earned during the regular CT season. The top 6 of the 8 results will be counted towards the final ranking of the WSL leaderboard.

Location: The Rip Curl WSL Finals will be held at Lower Trestles in San Clemente, California, a famous cobblestone point that is considered one of the most high-performance waves in the world.

Dates: The waiting period for Rip Curl WSL Finals will be from September 9th to 17th , 2021 . The event will be held on one of the nine days of Lower Trestles' golden season when conditions are optimal.

This one day at Lower will make tournament history.

The Format
At the end of the regular season, the top- ranked surfer for both men and women will receive direct entry into the best-of -three title match to determine the world champion.

The remaining surfers will be placed into a bracket for the Rip Curl WSL Finals based on their rankings.
The women's matches are followed by the men's matches, and then the women's and men's matches alternate.

Match 1: The 5th place surfer will face the 4th place surfer in the first match, in a traditional heat format head-to-head competition.

Match 2: The winner of the first match will go head-to-head in the second match against the # 3 ranked surfer in a traditional heat format.

Match 3: The winner of the second match will go head-to-head against the # 2 ranked surfer in a traditional heat format.

Title Match: The winner of the third match will advance to a best-of -three title match where they will go head-to-head against the # 1 ranked surfer in the world in a traditional heat format. The first surfer to win two of the three heats will be the undisputed 2021 World Champion.
