Kathmandu, Rip Curl and Oboz receive B Corp certification

KMD Brands, a global outdoor, lifestyle and sports company, is proud to announce that all of its brands, Kathmandu, Rip Curl and Oboz, are certified B Corporations (B Corps). KMD Brand Group will be one of the first multinational companies in Australia and New Zealand to have all of its brands individually certified.

Michael Daly, Managing Director and Group CEO of KMD Brands, said the B Corp certification is a significant achievement and recognizes the recognition of B Corp certification, which joins a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact, responsibility and transparency. Because it means that you have become a part of it.

Daley said: “At KMD Brands, we always strive to elevate ourselves across the group as we work to balance people, planet and profit. "It means that their work and commitment has been recognized. We believe this is a great achievement for our business and our people."

B Corps are for-profit organizations that are measured for performance in five impact areas: governance, workers, customers, communities, and the environment. Using the B Impact Assessment tool, companies must document their positive impact and go through an independent verification process every three years to obtain and maintain certification.

Kathmandu was one of the first outdoor apparel brands in Australia and New Zealand to become B Corp certified in 2019, recognizing significant improvements to its impact and being recognized by B Lab, the not-for-profit organization behind B Corp certification. It was praised. Rip Curl and Oboz have worked for many years to evolve, expand, and improve their existing practices and policies, earning them B Corp certification for the first time.

"We are a large organization and we have a responsibility to consider the impact that our decisions have on all of our customers, employees, shareholders, the wider community and the environment. Being B Corp certified across our business means that we “We take this responsibility very seriously and must continue to work hard to maintain our certification,” Daly said. B Lab praised the KMD brand's commitment to the B Corp movement, which uses business as a force for good.

“Businesses across the KMD brand are part of an accelerating global cultural shift to redefine success, build an inclusive and sustainable economy, and use business as a force for good. This certification is a great example of how B Corp's like Kathmandu, including Rip Curl and Oboz, lead others to improve their impact on people and the planet. We want businesses of all sizes to be responsible. We need to take ownership and take responsibility and we commend KMD Brands for doing so,” said Mindy Leow, Managing Director of B Lab Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

“Achieving B Corp certification for a large and diverse business like KMD Brands is a testament to their credibility and an inspiration for how to do business better at scale. To their continuous improvement. 's focus sets a leading example for other large global companies and sends a strong signal for further transformation in the retail industry and broader global economic system."

The announcement was approved by Michael Daly, Managing Director of KMD Brands Limited.
